Summer Solstice means less time for the night sky, but you can still cuddle up under our “Constellations” quilt. Gold hand stitching outlines each constellation and white french knots show the milky way. 60″x60″ $296.
SUMMER SOLSTICE, SO WHAT?
WELCOMING THE LONGEST DAY OF THE YEAR!
Today is the longest day of the year and the offical start of Summer!
Because the Earth is not straight up and down while it orbits around the sun, but tilted 23.5 degrees, there is a seasonal variation in day length. During the summer the Northern Hemisphere is leaning towards the sun, meaning more exposure and longer days.
The Summer Solstice marks the day the North Pole is tilted most toward the sun, resulting in the longest day of the year here at home, and the shortest day in the Southern Hemisphere.
